About the Study

The purpose of this study is to assess if nurse educator knowledge and confidence in colour aware assessments increases after the completion of the self-paced learning modules provided.

This research will contribute to building a nursing knowledge base  and as existing literature on this topic is limited, it will motivate further research and change in nursing practice. Understanding how to incorporate skin tone diversity into nursing education will foster a culture of inclusivity at a systems and individual level.  Students graduating with competence in colour aware assessments will be able to provide the best quality and inclusive care to patients. This will help bridge health inequity. Most importantly, this project will empower faculty and by proxy students to advocate for their patients and make sure they keep the dialogue about skin colour and tailoring assessments open and inclusive.
